Abstract :
Recently, more than 70% of the search engine traffic is utilized on travel-related activities, such as information search and hotel reservations. A travel planning approach has recently been a focus of interests for enhancing performance of the existing e-tourism systems because most travelers need to plan prior their travelling for energy saving and visiting maximum places of interests within their specific travel time. This paper proposes an e-tourism system emphasized on a travel planning optimization under the energy and time constraints in accordance with the tourist requirements. The system comprises the planning optimization techniques for time-based routing and energy consuming computation. The information in the system, such as maps and gas prices, is always up-to-date with Google maps and web services technologies. The experimental results indicated that the proposed optimization technique took the computation time 34.92% less than the exhaustive routing technique. Additionally the designated route could save up to 15.16% on energy consumption when compared with the shortest-time route and 10.61% when compared with the shortest-distance route.
