  • Abstract
The device presented has been especially designed for testing surface-mounted components, and allows a resolution of 0.1 mm (4/1000 in). It is able to detect and identify opens and shorts in a few seconds, on both sides of the printed circuit board simultaneously (surface-mount technology allows boards to have components on both sides), with 4000 nonmultiplexed test points per side. The device is controlled by a simple PC or AT compatible, linked to the tester by a flat cable of 50 wires
