Abstract :
Low illumination images contain splotches or dark noise and simple intensity enhancement techniques cannot be applied to enhance the brightness of such images as the noise gets amplified especially in the darker region. Several techniques are proposed in literature to remove such splotches based on single or multiple frames. In this work, a multiple frame based noise removal technique is proposed. The proposed method removes noise in multiple stages and in multiple bands of frequencies. The method is fast and can be implemented in a mobile device with near-real time performance for high resolution images.
