Abstract
In this paper a fourth order front end boost converter topology with single sensor maximum power point (MPP) tracking algorithm is proposed for solar PV application. The detailed steady state analysis is presented under continuous inductor current mode and discontinuous inductor current mode of operation. Small-signal models of the proposed converter are derived using state-space averaging method and then these models are used for design of voltage compensator in voltage loop. To verify the steady state and dynamic performance of the proposed converter, a detailed simulation study is carried out and the effectiveness of proposed converter is compared with that of conventional boost converter.
