Abstract
A technique is presented for subband adaptive filtering which demonstrates superior mean-squared error performance relative to the uniform subband scheme. The process employs a bandwidth allocation algorithm which works to minimize the total output error power by equalizing the subband error powers. Simulation results are presented which compare the performance of this nonuniform scheme with both the uniform subband adaptive filtering configuration and the fullband system. Mean-squared error reductions of several orders of magnitude were observed.
