Abstract :
The US Army´s Mobile Subscriber Equipment (MSE) system uses a flood search algorithm to locate a path from the caller to the called party, inherently providing alternate routing around outages and thus providing a survivable network. The network performance measures are functions of the reliabilities of the network elements. Numerical evaluation of the performance measures is computationally intensive, particularly for the general case of element reliabilities, which precludes use of symmetry. An efficient technique for computing s -t reliability is extended to obtain other performance measures. Bounds that further reduce the computational requirements are discussed. The MSE network performance is computed using these techniques
