Abstract
This paper presents an improvement to the generalized simultaneous model-based parameter estimation (MBPE) interpolation procedure introduced by Werner and Allard (see Proceedings of the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1998) which, while producing highly accurate results, required a considerable amount of time to perform the large matrix equation operations involved. A piecewise scheme consisting of interpolation windows that are limited to only three or four fitting frequencies, has been developed which allows the required orders of the Pade rational function to be limited such that exact analytical expressions for the unknown numerator and denominator coefficients can be determined. Using this procedure requires that only relatively small matrices for interpolating in the spatial domain be inverted, which can be done in much less time. This procedure is shown to produce excellent results when applied to the same dipole example used to demonstrate the generalised procedure of Werner et al., and also exhibits several key advantages over the generalized simultaneous interpolation technique.
