Abstract :
A unified analysis technique for digital demodulators with a noisy phase reference is presented. Early work on binary phase-shift keying (BPSK) and frequency shift-keying (FSK) performance analysis is extended to the bit error probability analysis of quadrature PSK (QPSK), staggard QPSK, and quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM). The technique is numerically much more efficient than previously proposed analytical methods. The method is used to calculate the required gain to achieve certain degradations from ideal due solely to additive white Gaussian noise
