Abstract :
This paper reports progress to date on the development of candidates for low cost, planar LMDS/LMCS subscriber terminal antennas. The requirements for LMDS/LMCS subscriber antennas are linear polarisation and 30 dBi gain across frequency ranges from 25.3-28.3 GHz for LMCS and 27.5-29.5 GHz for LMDS. Achieving such a high gain planar array which covers the entire band of operation (10-15% bandwidth) is a difficult and challenging design problem. Two types of planar arrays are considered; both are fed by a microstrip line.
