Abstract
We present a procedure for designing a tapered slot line for matching two different impedances. The effect of frequency dispersion of both the effective permittivity and line impedance is accounted for in the calculations. An approximate formula for a tapered line with mismatched load is determined and, based on it, the spectral response of a taper is obtained. This spectral response is then used for determining the pulse response of the tapered slot line. The method is also applicable for an approximate analysis of tapered slot antenna.
