Abstract :
This paper presents a generic model driven approach to enable quality of service (QoS) modeling and realization for component based middleware platforms. We describe a QoS metamodel that makes it possible to support multi category QoS instead of introducing a static set of QoS properties into the modeling method. The metamodel is integrated with the UML metamodel and the component implementation framework (CIF) metamodel of the CORBA component model (CCM). Extensions to the CCM are described that are necessary to realize the QoS models in the software components and infrastructure. In addition an example QoS category is presented to demonstrate the application of the presented approach.
