Abstract :
CO2 injection has become the most attractive solution for enhanced oil recovery (EOR). However, this process frequently suffers from viscous fingering, gravity override and channeling of CO2 in heterogeneous formation and the inefficient displacement of oil in reservoirs. CO2 foam stabilized with soluble surfactants has exhibited more economical and technical advantages in effective control of CO2 mobility in porous media. The nature of the gas and the surfactant may influence foaming behavior and thus increase efficiency of the foam. Flow rate is one of the important factors in influencing foam mobility. The influences of flow rates on foam mobility with different permeability and presence of oil will be determined in order to observe oil recovery. In this work, changes of flow rates from 1 to 10 cm3/min will be tested. These tests are to investigate the effect of flow rate to obtain the highest oil recovery. Foam flow test equipment has been developed to comprehend flooding test for foam mobility. This research aims to explore the foam flow behavior in the Malaysia reservoir conditions. This is an ongoing research. At the end of this study, it is expected that foam mobility will increase when flow rate increases.
