Abstract
Tool adaptation is a reoccurring problem in model-based testing. Tests can be generated based on formal models, but they also need to be executed on the actual SUTs. We introduce a generic open-source adapter framework for facilitating the integration of model-based test generators with test execution tools. The framework is based on the popular keyword concept and is seen as especially applicable in online testing, which requires continuous message passing between the generator and SUT. The architecture is based on plug-ins, similar to the Eclipse integrated development environment, enabling easy extension. We also discuss experiences in using the adapter framework to integrate our test generator for S60 smartphone GUI testing with the ASTE tool from Nokia.
