Development of IN toward the realization of highly value added services

In Japan, there are too many carriers and keen competition is escalating year after year. In that environment, competition is moving from discount pricing to value added services. Intelligent Network is the best solution for providing highly value added services. Therefore JAPAN TELECOM had to immediately develop IN as a platform that would provide highly value added services. We started IN development in 1993. At that point, IN CS-1 Refinement Recommendation was still under study. However, the main technical aspects of CS-IR were available. We started our implementation of an IN prototype system in 1994, and we completed our IN prototype system in 1995. Then, we evaluated and extracted and solved issues. At the same time, we started implementation of a practical use IN system that conforms to the IN CS-IR Recommendation as much as possible. The practical use of the IN system was completed in 1996, and now our IN system is evolving toward more enhanced services
