Abstract
This paper presents a micro fuel cell array able to characterize and screen complex phenotypes. The specific example presented implements an array of 96 bacterial fuel cells since it measures continuously the electric current produced by a population of cells contained in each well. Since the current output is a mirror of the cells´ metabolic state, it can be used for screening them according to their response to environmental conditions.
