Abstract :
In this review, the commercially important engineering thermoplastics used in coil forms and coil encapsulation are discussed. Included are resins such as 6.6 nylon, 612 nylon, and 1212 nylons, PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) polyesters, and polyphenylene sulfides. Also covered are some of the newer materials, such as the polyarylates, liquid-crystal polymers, and thermally conductive compositions, which will be of major importance in future coils. Physical properties, UL (Underwriters Laboratories) recognitions, and commercial uses of each resin are discussed
