            Abstract :
A simple procedure is described for comparing the latency characteristics of various accelerator additives in epoxy-anhydride vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) resins. The procedure utilizes normalized molar concentration parameters, relating to both the gel reactivity and the storage stability characteristics of the resin system, and permits a latency factor quantity to be derived for each accelerator material. The procedure is illustrated by means of experimental data obtained with eight different latent accelerators in an epoxy-anhydride resin system. This technique could be used to screen and evaluate future accelerator additives for VPI resin applications
