Abstract :
A single sequence based method is proposed to predict the α-helix content of a protein from its primary sequence. The analysis of the secondary structure of the protein is performed using the information derived from its hydrophobicity profile and the amino acid composition. The method is applied to a test set of 347 proteins obtaining a residue by residue accuracy of 72%.
