  • Abstract
This paper describes the use of free-standing electrically conductive low modulus materials as sensors for the measurement of large strains. Molecular-level wet-chemistry self-assembly processing methods have been used to form free-standing, highly elastomeric and highly electrically conductive nanocomposite thin films that exhibit a large change in resistance with strain. The processing details and sensor applications are presented.
