Abstract

This paper shows a general view of the photovoltaic power systems installed in Mexico, since the early 1970s up to the present day. The authors show the chronological development of this field, pointing out the type of PV systems, their power and the places where they have been installed. The authors describe a recent nationwide PV program, its objectives, financial support and social impact. The agencies and companies participating in this program, either academic, federal or local government agencies as well as private companies are mentioned. The present status as well as the future trends of this program are also discussed
