The electrical engineering (EE) section of the US Coast Guard Academy has developed a research program based on aggressive undergraduate participation and dedicated to working on Coast Guard engineering problems. The research projects help the students bridge the gap between classroom learning and solving real-world engineering problems. The authors describe how the Academy´s EE section has committed itself to the research program and how the program is arranged
