This paper addresses electrical design concepts that can have a significant impact on safety of personnel and equipment. Specific areas addressed include system and equipment grounding; medium voltage, mobile equipment grounding; application of equipment within their short-circuit ratings; safety switches; electric shock protection; arc fault flash hazards; egress lighting; and identification of equipment.
