Abstract :
The challenge of "Realizing the Roadmap" - staying on the productivity curve as outlined in the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS) - has become more difficult than ever, as technology and business challenges facing the semiconductor industry grow in number, complexity, and urgency, even as the role the semiconductor industry plays in fueling the global economy grows. It is clear that no one company, nation, or region can hope to meet and overcome the difficult challenges we face in the decade to come. The acceleration, increasing complexity, and rising costs of technology development call for an unprecedented level of sharing resources and risks. As an industry we will need to find new ways to work together on common challenges, new kinds of creative cooperation.
