Abstract
The concept of ASEE student chapters introduced. This organization will serve to further higher education in engineering and engineering technology. The first student chapter of ASEE was successfully formed in the spring of 1993 at Purdue University. The student chapter has a three-fold mission: (1) to educate undergraduate students about graduate school, (2) to prepare interested graduate students for academic careers, and (3) to encourage under-represented groups such as women, and minorities to seek advanced degrees and academic careers
