Soft computing and recognition of facial expressions on face images

This paper presents a method based on fuzzy logic in order to automatically recognize the facial expression of a face from the given image. Our approach is based on the multicriteria decision problem. The final decision (to assign an expression to the given face) results from a symbolic-numerical defuzzification process based on similarities. From the results obtained it is shown that the method is rather promising.
