Abstract
Formaldehyde, total volatile organic compounds and sulfur dioxide were selected as the evaluating indicator to assess the indoor air pollution status of dwellings in Nanjing City. And twenty randomly drawing households in the urban and suburb of Nanjing City were selected as specimen. The results showed that the concentrations of formaldehyde, total volatile organic compounds and sulfur dioxide were higher and exceeded the standard value in summer comparing with winter. Furthermore, the main sources of indoor formaldehyde and total volatile organic compounds were decoration materials and constructions. Cooking in the kitchen was another source of total volatile organic compounds. High concentration of outdoor sulfur dioxide was observed, and the main source of indoor sulfur dioxide was outdoor sulfur dioxide. The analysis on the ratio between indoor and outdoor pollutants concentration suggested that there were different pollutants emission sources for formaldehyde, total volatile organic compounds and sulfur dioxide.
