Abstract :
Various classes of cells can be transmitted in ATM networks with their respective quality of service requirements. The quality of service requirements includes cell loss rate and delay time. One of the possible way to provide the cell loss requirement is to give priorities to various classes of cells. We propose a new priority scheme to improve the cell loss rate of the high priority class. The proposed priority scheme has the merits that its buffer management is simple and it has a better performance than the partial buffer sharing scheme
