Abstract :
Fish consumption can incur the methyl mercury associated risk to cognitive development and docosahexaenoic acid associated benefit to cognitive development. The positive impact of fish consumption, aggregately with its adverse impact, on IQ points was analyzed when women of child-bearing age following the advisory on fish consumption to reduce MeHg risk. The decrement of fish consumption can bring positive IQ points, while the increment of fish consumption will bring adverse IQ points. This result was highly relied on the slope of dose-response relationship after sensitivity analysis. The most preferred scenario was that the fish species consumed chosen delicately to the ones with low-MeHg and high DHA levels.
