Abstract :
The design of communication modes utilizing a moderate degree of bandspreading augmented by convolutional encoding, adaptive interference suppression, maximum likelihood decoding, and automated copy combining is described. The design tradeoffs involved in implementing these VLF communication modes, the basic mode parameters, and the synchronization and framing of the system are discussed
