Abstract :
The South African VHF SAR System (SASAR-1) has been successfully integrated and tested on the ground. Due to a required verification of the antenna mounting base design, the system could not yet be installed onboard the aircraft. A digital radio frequency memory (DRFM) was used to simulate a point target return from a certain range. This was used to measure the point spread function of the system. This paper reports on the progress of the system up to the first ground evaluation of the system and briefly discusses the new SASAR-2 system
