Abstract :
By undertaking projects that have a real-world dimension students are highly likely to gain the skills and abilities which industry requires. An outline is presented of the range of taught masters level programmes at the University of Sunderland highlighting the requirement for each student to undertake a capstone project. Details are presented of an approach, involving empowerment and control, that has enabled hundreds of successful projects to be undertaken with industry ever year. Finally reflections are presented along with details of developments.
