Abstract :
The passivity equation is the main necessary condition of passivity and dissipativity of nonlinear control system. The paper presents necessary and sufficient conditions of its solvability with respect to some nonnegative storage function. These results can be a basis for further investigations on passivity of control systems. Furthermore, they have applications in adaptive control
