Abstract
The authors present the philosophy, development, and use of a program package SYNCDEM (synchronous-machine demonstrator) which is being completed at New Mexico State University: a software package to assist in the demonstration and analysis of the steady-state behavior of the polyphase synchronous machine in terms of its equivalent circuit. The SYNCDEM program implementation uses color graphics to illustrate the quasi-state behavior of the synchronous machine, showing resulting changes in phasors and numerical values in response to interactive modifications in the problem. SYNCDEM has been used at New Mexico State University both as an in-class demonstrator during lectures and as a basis for homework assignments
