Abstract :
Recently introduced in image processing for edge detection, recursive implementation reduces the computational effort required for linear filter operations. However, the classical recursive implementation presents some artefacts on the picture sides. The key to our approach is to deal with a method of resolving the problem of side picture effects posed by the classical recursive implementation of linear filters. This method is based on the application of the convergence properties of recurrent sequences, on a transform of the considered linear systems. We have applied our method on images which illustrate the properties of this approach, and we present the results for smoothing and edge detection problems
