Abstract :
In this paper, a novel fuzzy predictive control (NFPC) algorithm is optimally derived in a fuzzy sense. The control scheme is then applied to the automatic train operation (ATO) process. The existing ATO system is usually developed by using conventional controls to trace a pre-specified speed pattern. Based on the analyses of the drawback of the conventional system, the fundamental importance of applying intelligent controls is emphasized. The NFPC paradigm is actually an organic fusion of fuzzy logic and predictive control. The inverse dynamics of the controlled process is represented by the fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic, and the predictive control is also adopted to optimize the system output trajectory. The computer simulation shows satisfactory results
