Abstract :
We have developed a light-weight Q3 agent platform that is embedded in subscriber network elements. We have reexamined requirements in OSI recommendations, and then we have omitted functionalities redundant for subscriber network elements. As a result, the platform can use effective architectures, such as main-memory MIB, for a high performance and cost effective agent. We have especially made efforts at designing efficient data structures of class information and attributes. An agent application built on the platform achieves 400 M-GET operations per second and 150 event reports per second
