Abstract
The object localization problem is to compute the orientation for a given object which best fits the sensed data. In this paper, a genetic algorithm (GA) for object localization is investigated. A method called Coverage-based Genetic Induction (COGIN) is applied to solve the problem of object localization. A comparison between COGIN and Simple GA (SGA) is reported. They are tested by using synthetic edge images with different levels of random noise. From the experimental results, it is shown that the performance of COGIN is much better than that of SGA
