Abstract :
Advanced communication technologies has allowed the powerline communication (PLC) channel to be a transmission medium that enables the transferring of high-speed digital data over the classical indoor electrical wires. The development of PLC systems for Internet, voice, and data services requires models of the transfer characteristics of the mains network suitable for performance analysis by simulation. In this paper, a deterministic approach for powerline channel modelization is described. It is based on transmission lines theory to model the PLC transfer function while taking into account impedance loads of electrical appliances that can affect the channel. In order to be more representative, a measuring method of cable linear parameters is proposed.
