Highly flexible media handling enabler for NGN service delivery platform

We propose a new media handling architecture that can be used to create or mash up diverse services in the next generation network (NGN). By clarifying problems with the current implementation situations, such as the use of Web service-based Parlay X application program interfaces (APIs), we explain the approaches to solving them. The proposed APIs have an appropriate granularity and flexibility, and the proposed platform architecture enables easy functional extension in a multi-vendor environment. In conjunction with SIP handling capabilities, our platform is expected to promote diversification of services in the NGN.
