Abstract :
An early step in any image sequence analysis algorithm is the comparison of successive images. Several alternative frame comparison measures are examined and assessed against the conventional image differencing technique. The use of illumination compensation techniques improves the performance of perimeter surveillance systems. We compare two such methods, previously reported by Bischel (1994) and by Eghbali (1979). We also discuss how varying the window size can affect system performance
