Abstract
In this paper, we will consider the normalized right-coprime factorization (NRCF) problem for singular systems. Firstly, the linear quadratic regulator (LQR) theory for singular systems is reviewed with emphasis on the solution of its corresponding Riccati equation. Secondly, a method is developed for a normalized stable, right coprime factorization for a given transfer matrix. This method involves the solution of an algebraic Riccati equation for singular systems and avoids calculations of spectral factors
