Abstract :
In health informatics there is no such mechanism of binding healthcare service providers and requesters that provide publish and retrieval of healthcare services. Healthcare web services should be published with formalized semantic descriptions in a structured and uniform way, to automate healthcare service discovery. The use of semantic web technologies and service oriented computing for efficient discovery of HL7 compliant healthcare web services is a challenging task. UDDI and ebXML standards are used for matchmaking purpose to discover service descriptions. Matchmaking algorithm can result in more efficient discovery with the use of service discovery based on functional and non functional semantics. In this paper we proposed the use of service inputs, outputs, preconditions and effects for efficient discovery of OWL-S based HL7 compliant healthcare web services using our Semantic Registry. We presented a proof of concept to formalize service descriptions publish and discovery with the help of a FindLabReportResult HL7 compliant healthcare semantic web service scenario. We also evaluate our proposed service descriptions publish and discovery with existing techniques.
