Abstract
This paper mainly discusses a business process assignment optimization model and optimization strategy under the conditions of time, cost and resource constraints in a multi-project environment. Business processes can be classified into operational, supportive and managerial processes with complex semantic relationships including sequential, concurrent activities and AND, OR, exclusive OR logic junctions. The structural and formal description of business processes is introduced using IDEF3 and an extended AON (activity on node) graph. The analytic model of business process assignment optimization is developed for the resource allocation and activity arrangement optimization at the minimal cost. The genetic algorithm is utilized as a main algorithmic framework for the optimization problem that incorporates the stack technique and unified time window to deal with resource conflicts and decision nodes.
