Abstract
We present a time-domain propagation-backpropagation algorithm for computing images of the internal structure of a two-dimensional object with high-contrast electric properties. The algorithm is based on an optimization technique. In each iteration step of the algorithm one forward problem and one adjoint problem are solved efficiently by using the finite-difference time-domain method. A numerical calculation shows that the algorithm can image a malignant tumor in normal breast tissue
