Abstract :
A public-key cryptographic process based on the theory of error correcting codes is reviewed. This algorithm´s ability to simultaneously correct communication channel errors and transmit secondary messages is discussed. It is shown that, since the error vectors used in the encryption process are chosen by the sender it is possible to assign information content to the error vectors and to protect that information content from the effects of channel-induced errors
