Abstract :
In this paper, a new road friction coefficient estimation method based on Support Vector Machines (SVM) was proposed in the process of steering driving under different road conditions. First a 2 ideal DOF vehicle model was built in Matlab/simulink to analyzing the wheel cornering characteristics. And then an algorithm based on SVM was performed to estimate difference road adhesion coefficient. Simulation results showed that the algorithm can effectively identify the friction coefficient, which had a significant meaning for controlling the stability of vehicle in process of over steering and under steering.
