Abstract
A decoupled fuzzy sliding mode controller design is proposed. The decoupled method provides a simple way to achieve asymptotic stability for a class of eighth order nonlinear systems with only seven fuzzy rules. Using single input fuzzy logic model and signed distance concept, the response of system will converge faster than that of previous reports with conventional fuzzy algorithm. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
