Abstract :
A novel adaptive filter solution derived for digital image processing applications is described. It uses local variance field of the distorted image, which permits to bypass prior knowledge about statistical properties of the original image. The adaptive filter derived and presented in this paper shows good noise suppression ability and produces good edge sharpness. Some techniques based on rank robust algorithms are presented
