Abstract :
Recent interests in reluctance torque assisted motors as high drives, has spurred a great deal of research into their development and practical uses. switched reluctance motor (SRM) is one of them. This paper copes with it. It has simple, and has wide range torque - speed characteristics. Despite the fact that it has many attractive features, it is slow to introduce the motor to many applications because of the difficulty to control. For example, it has the nonlinear inductance characteristics. In addition, the current build-up time is not enough in a high speed region. Hence, it cannot satisfy the motor ability. Therefore, this paper deals with the characteristics of 4/2 SRM (with four stator poles and two rotor poles) by the excitation timing. First, the model is illustrated. Second, the dynamic simulation model with the nonlinear characteristics is defined. Third, the torque-speed characteristics by the excitation angle are discussed from experimental and simulated aspects. Finally, this paper concludes that the excitation angles should be changed at the motor speed.
