Abstract
Instantaneous depth of cut and cutting force are estimated using a state observer and compared with the results of measuring instruments. For this aim, the machining process is simplified and modified to derive the dynamical model for these estimates. Experimental results show that the change of instantaneous depth of cut approximately indicates the dimensional error and the estimates of cutting force agree well with the results by a tool dynamometer
